Tottenham star in limbo as loan deal turns awkward after manager bust-up

Tanguy Ndombele appears to have been left in limbo in Galatasaray following his disappointing start to his loan stint at the club. The playmaker has fallen out of favour under manager boss Okan Buruk already and there have been suggestions that the loanee could return to Tottenham sooner rather than later.

Ndombele has struggled since joining Spurs from Lyon in 2019 and remains their record signing at £63million. The playmaker has shown glimpses of promise but ultimately has lacked the work ethic to thrive in the Premier League.

Ex-Tottenham managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte never shied away from going public with their frustrations with Ndombele, both feeling that the France international had the talent to deliver on the big stage if he was willing to go above and beyond to unlock his potential.

There was a growing feeling that Ange Postecoglou may keep the 26-year-old as part of his squad this season and set himself the challenge of getting the very best out of Ndombele. However, the midfielder was promptly whisked away on loan to Galatasaray mid-way through pre-season.

Ndombele has made just seven appearances since heading to Turkey, and reports are circulating that Galatasaray are already looking into cutting the loan spell short. According to The Athletic, the Super Lig side does not have an option to end the season-long deal early, which may come as a significant relief to those at Tottenham.

Instead, Ndombele is hopeful of reviving his career with Galatasaray and has begun working with a personal trainer to ensure that he is physically ready when called upon – which has been a major cause for concern in years gone by.
