Tottenham are reportedly on the verge of sending Ivan Perisic on loan to Hajduk Split for the rest of the season. The Croatian could be the seventh player to leave north London this month, and there is still just under two weeks before the window slams shut on club chairman Daniel Levy and his fast-moving transfer plans.
Perisic has made five substitute appearances for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou. His most recent outing came in mid-September, notching a late assist in the 2-1 win at home to Sheffield United.
His season was effectively ended just a few days later, when he suffered a devastating ACL injury which required surgery on his right knee. Perisic’s brief but productive cameo against the Blades may proves to be his final act in Tottenham’s famous white shirt.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 34-year-old is closing in on an emotional move to his hometown club, Hajduk Split.
Born and raised in the city of Split, Perisic spent six years on the club’s books as a teenager without ever making a senior appearance. The Croatia legend of 129 international caps and 33 goals has never played club football in his homeland.
The move is said to be ‘advancing well’ and in its ‘final stages’. In a bid to shift Perisic from the wage bill, Spurs are willing to let him go on loan until the summer, by which point he will become a free agent.
Hugo Lloris has joined Los Angeles FC on a permanent deal, while Eric Dier is on loan at Bayern Munich with a view to extending the arrangement until 2025.
Sergio Reguilon, Djed Spence and Japhet Tanganga face uncertain futures at Tottenham after being loaned out to Brentford, Genoa and Millwall respectively. Ashley Phillips, meanwhile, has joined Plymouth Argyle until the end of the season, but the 18-year-old is expected to return to his parent club thereafter.
