Tottenham can back up £15m bargain with incredible free transfer to revolutionise attack

Tottenham are eyeing up a free transfer for Atletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams to help back up £15million striker target Serhou Guirassy, who Spurs are hoping to sign from Stuttgart in January. Williams is available to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January if he does not extend his Athletic deal which is set to expire in June.

According to 90min, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool are all said to be monitoring his contractual situation. Williams is yet to renew with Athletic but Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim he has verbally agreed on a two-year extension until 2026 with the La Liga Outfit.

He may choose to delay signing on the dotted line in order to explore the option of leaving for nothing in the summer but he is also provided with a clear route out of San Mames via a release clause in his new deal. Whether Williams will sign the extension reportedly hinges on Athletic keeping his £43.5m release clause in place.

The asking price would surely be viewed as more than fair by potential suitors given the Spaniard’s obvious quality and would help Athletic command a fee while retaining the attention of interested clubs. Regardless of whether they pay for him or not, Tottenham are understood to be very keen on acquiring Williams’ services.

And the 21-year-old would make an excellent partnership with centre-forward target Guirassy. Stuttgart’s danger man has a £15million release clause in his contract despite scoring an incredible 14 goals in eight Bundesliga games.

Last season, Guirassy played a massive part in keeping Stuttgart in Germany’s top flight after joining the club on loan from Rennes. In May, Stuttgart announced they had activated an option to make the move permanent and signed the Guinea international onto a three-year contract.

Guirassy recently broke the record for the most Bundesliga goals after eight games, surpassing Robert Lewandowski, and is currently out-scoring former Spurs striker Harry Kane in the German charts which has caught the eye of Daniel Levy and Co.

Williams has already laid on four assists in seven La Liga appearances this season and is among the most creative wingers in Europe right now. If Tottenham can secure both player’s signatures then they will have an attacking force to be reckoned with for years to come.
