Tommy Fury edges nip and tuck affair in bizarre bout against KSI

Tommy Fury defeated KSI via majority decision with scorecards of 57-56, 57-56 and 57-57.

KSI came out swinging wild and swinging hard. A looping overhand right caught Fury flush and sent him wheeling backwards against the ropes. The content creator showed no respect to Fury early as he kept his hands low and threw fire to the wind with little regard for what was coming back at him.

At the start of the second Fury was deducted a point for punching behind the head which seemed to spur on the YouTube star. TNT appeared to struggle to time his counters as KSI rushed in and could do nothing more than clinch and hold through two rounds.

Having boxed against so many traditional fighters over the years it seemed the wild unorthodox style of KSI was causing Fury all kinds of problems early. But in round three the momentum began to turn. Fury caught KSI with a nasty right hook on the break that snapped his adversary’s head back.

As KSI jabbed to the body Fury began to time the right hook to the temple which buzzed the 30-year-old before the bell. The jab started to come through for Fury in the fourth but there was still a lot of clinching and dirty boxing on the inside as they collided awkwardly.

To KSI’s credit, he kept trying to land the finishing blow but he was continually walked down and bullied by Fury. Despite being the professional boxer there weren’t many boxing skills on display from Fury. In order to take away KSI’s clear speed advantage Fury opted to smother and rough up the YouTube star.

It was ugly and pretty unwatchable but nevertheless, it was effective. Down the home straight, they opened up and KSI landed a big overhand right that may have nicked the final round which was largely inactive.
