Toddler brutally stabbed in the stomach after binge-drinking mum couldn't take his crying

A mother allegedly stabbed her 18-month-old son in the stomach after he “did not stop crying and interrupted her drinking session”.

The horrific incident happened in the Russian village of Priyutovo, located in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

The 22-year-old woman, identified with the name Aida, was reportedly having a party with her civil partner Viktor, 28, before an argument between the pair broke out.

After the mother accused Viktor of having an affair, he left the house while she continued to drink alcohol, it has been reported.

Her toddler son, who had been asleep in the next room, eventually woke up and started crying.

At first, the woman waited for the boy, named Artem, to calm down on his own – but when this didn’t work, she grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed him in the stomach, a report by the police said.

Following the alleged attack, Aida reportedly threw the knife on the floor and left the house.

Wondering along the streets, she stopped a pedestrian and asked to call an ambulance for her boy, the report added.

The Investigative Committee of Bashkiria told local media: “The mother inflicted at least three blows with a knife in the child’s stomach. After that, she went outside and asked a passerby to call an ambulance.”

Upon their arrival at the scene, the paramedics found Artem in a pool of blood and alerted the police.

In a police video, which shows the toddler with blood stains on his clothes, officers can be heard saying: “Oh my god. His intestines are coming out.”

After Artem was rushed to hospital with severe wounds, doctors managed to save his life.

When he makes a full recovery, the boy will be placed in an orphanage, local authorities said.

His mother, who after the arrival of the paramedics was arrested and held in custody, had previously come under the radar of social services for failing to treat her baby for illnesses, it has been claimed.
