Tiny Welsh village hit by earthquake as terrified locals felt tremors 'like thunder'


A village in Wales has been hit by its third earthquake this year. The tremor struck Capel Carmel in Gwynedd, north Wales, with a magnitude 1.8 on the Richter Scale.

The quake was at 3.43am on December 20 at a depth of 11.8 miles (19km), according to the British Geological Survey.

Shocked locals said the tremors sounded like “thunder with a bang”, with the tremo strong enough to be felt two miles away in the hamlet of Rhydlios.
