The six sweet nicknames used by Kate, William and their children that show their closeness

On May 8 the whole family were at the 3rd Upton Scouts Hut in Slough, not far from their home in Windsor, to help renovations on the hut as part of the national day of volunteering.

During the day both Charlotte and William could be heard referring to Kate as “Mummy” as she oversaw the children during their day of activities.

Louis calls her “Mama” while Kate calls William “Papa” when they are in front of their children.

At one point while preparing marshmallows over an open fire Kate called her youngest child “Lou Bugs” as she told him, “Pop that in the fire Lou Bugs”.

The Princess of Wales also described Louis as her “poppet” as she praised him for his hard work helping out his siblings with painting and digging.

Charlotte has a particularly cute and more unusual nickname which was coined for her by her father William.

During a video released by Kensington Palace showing the family at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019, the three Wales children are seen running around the gardens, and at one point William calls for his daughter.

The Prince called her “Mignonette”, which is French for “small, sweet and delicate” or “cute”.

Kate was heard telling a member of the public on another outing that she calls her daughter “Lottie”, a simple yet classic diminutive of Charlotte.

Princess Charlotte is said to be the one in charge in the Wales household, as she was spotted reminding big brother George to follow protocol at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last year.

George and Charlotte joined their parents as they watched their great-grandmother’s coffin make its way through the streets of London to Windsor Castle.

Charlotte was seen whispering to her older brother telling him, “you need to bow” as the Queen’s coffin passed by, the Mirror reports.

Both siblings were seen respecting royal protocol and bowing their heads in honour of Her Majesty.

Royal fans expressed their delight at the pair’s relationship with one stating they are “pleased” that George and Charlotte are able to “support” each other.

The Queen’s former press secretary Alisa Anderson seemed to echo these sentiments about the little princess, as she told Channel 5’s documentary “The Fab Five: The King’s Grandchildren”: “It appears to me that Princess Charlotte has no qualms at all about being in the spotlight on public events.”
