The safest village in England among rolling hills and riverside walks

A beautiful village in Cheshire is among the safest in the UK and has picturesque views of the English countryside.

Timbersbrook is a tiny village by a stream outside of Congleton, a market town between Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent.

Sat on a crossroads, the village has no shops, only a telephone box library and a handful of houses.

It is next to Timbersbrook Picnic Area, a peaceful spot called Mill Pool on Timbers Brook, which used to power the nearby silk mill.

The village is also by the Cloud, a steep 1,126ft hill with beautiful views over the countryside, as well as being on the path of the Gritstone Trail.

Combined with two nearby villages, the area saw less than 20 offences in 2022, all of which were anti-social behaviour, making it among the safest places to live in the UK.

Villagers told the Sun that “it’s a dream” to live there and said it is “unusually safe”.

One grandmother, pushing her grandson in a pram, said: “My husband’s golf clubs were stolen from his car.

“Mind you that was 30 years ago but he’s still upset about it.”

According to Rightmove, properties in Timbersbrook sell for an average of £360,000.

In the nearby area is Congleton with lots of shops and restaurants to enjoy, National Trust site Biddulph Grange Country Park, the south edge of the Peak District, Astbury Mere Country Park and Rudyard Lake.

Timbersbrook can be accessed by car via the A523 and by train from Stoke and Manchester to nearby Congleton.
