The reasons why 'heartbroken' Princess Kate 'doesn't want Prince George to go to Eton'

The Princess of Wales is reportedly “heartbroken” after agreeing to send Prince George to boarding school. The young prince wanted to go to Eton “just like his father”. The school costs an average of £46,000 a year for a child to attend.

Despite tradition, Prince William and Princess Kate “long disagreed” about sending George away for school, supposedly causing arguments for years. But in June, the family visited Eton College in Berkshire, sparking rumours that Prince George might attend as Prince William and Harry did.

Kate reportedly accepted it was his “destiny” to leave home for boarding school, the Mirror reports. But she is not looking forward to it, according to one royal inside source.

They said: “Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition. Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernise the monarchy.

“Plus, she’ll miss George desperately. She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won.” Prince William attended the £15,432-a-term school from 1995, visiting his grandmother Queen Elizabeth at Windsor on weekends.

Eton is just a ten-minute drive from the family’s home so it would be possible for him to make visits like William did.

The source told In Touch Weekly: “But (Kate’s) still heartbroken. She was horribly bullied at her first boarding school, and can’t bear the thought of George suffering through that. And it still seems as if her family is being torn apart.”

Prince George would not start at Eton for another three years but will need to complete a tough 150-minute verbal and mental reasoning test, with candidates typically needing a score of 125 or above to be considered.
