The Evri couriers who fell in love at work 'while loading up their vans with parcels'

A pair of Evri workers have detailed how it was “love at first delivery” when they met, in a moment that sparked a whirlwind of romance.

Steve and Gill met at work and delivered several parcels together on their round in Peterborough. They initially caught each other’s gaze when loading vans side-by-side, and began to connect over a same liking for music and humour.

Gill said: “It was love at first delivery. We bonded over shared stories of our favourite customers, a love of gin and a passion for showing the world how good couriers act.”

Despite working on separate routes, they are stationed at the same depot, allowing them to cherish moments of loading their vans alongside each other.

During these times, they often reminisce about discovering their shared dislike for black pens, opting instead for blue ink, while saving the use of black exclusively for “official documents”.

Gill has delivered for Evri for 20 years and Steve for seven. She has witnessed individuals becoming parents, and now those same babies have reached an age where they can independently select their own clothing.

Having been in a relationship for over four years, they tied the knot on the fourth anniversary of their initial meeting, in October 2023. Steve asked Gill out for a drink and “the rest is history”, he added.

He said: “Working together is a dream come true. I have realised this is exactly what life is supposed to be like and we are so grateful to Evri that we get to spend our days side-by-side, delivering gifts that bring joy and excitement to people’s lives.”
