The beautiful little UK village that’s constantly named one of the prettiest in Yorkshire

This village in Yorkshire has constantly been named one of the prettiest thanks to its serene location and tranquil feel.

Keld in Yorkshire lies within the summit of a deep valley, often regarded as one of the most secluded locations in the whole of the Yorkshire Dales.

But villagers like it for exactly that reason, and in recent years it has become more popular with hikers looking for new trails.

The village sits exactly where the Pennine Way and Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast intersect.

Described as the most challenging route in England, this village offers a serene pitstop where you can grab a bite to eat or take in the beautiful surroundings.

Despite its rural location, Keld has a long history dating back to the 19th century, with the village once an important place for lead mining.

In the 19th century, its population was thought to have risen to as much as 6,000 people, but today it’s thought to be less than 100.

For nature lovers, there’s plenty to see and do in this pretty village, with four waterfalls located in the hills and valleys surrounding it.

Kisdon Force to the south drops 10m and is surrounded by Kisdon Force Woods, which has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its abundance of wildlife and foliage.

East Gill Force is less popular but still worth a visit. The buildings within the village all feature their own unique look, with some built from lighter stone than others. The Keld Resource Centre restored some of the homes in recent years, keeping their beauty intact.

Keld is also home to a B&B, making it a perfect stopping point for those attempting the 267 mile hike. The Punch Bowl Inn also serves up home cooked food and drinks seven days a week.

There is also a campsite for those hoping to pitch up for the night. The nearest town is Richmond which also offers spectacular views across the Yorkshire Dales.

The market town is home to a number of independent businesses, including an array of restaurants and pubs.

Though it is a 50 minute drive from Keld, so you may want to stock up ahead of your visit to the remote location.
