The beautiful little seaside UK town that Beyond Paradise fans will instantly recognise

BBC hit drama Beyond Paradise is now into its second series and much like in its sister show Death in Paradise, viewers across the country have been charmed by the fabulous scenery.

It’s clear that the show is set in a gorgeous corner of the West Country, but with the south-west of England far more accessible for viewers than the Caribbean, Express.co.uk has decided to profile one of the filming locations so that readers can think about planning an early summer staycation.

Looe in Cornwall is one of the prettiest shooting locations used in the programme. With a stunning harbour, beach and elevated coastal properties, Looe is an ideal spot for a domestic summer holiday.

In the BBC drama, Looe is renamed Shipton Abbott but beyond the name change, the place is as quaint in real life as it appears on the TV.

Being on the Atlantic coast, Looe is a fishing hub. Even for those without much fishing experience, there is plenty of fresh fish to catch. Whether that’s paddling in the sea or by the harbour, those young and old can try their hand at catching supper.

However, braver souls may be willing to swerve trying to catch mackerel and cod and instead have a crack at catching, wait for it, sharks.

Yes, you read that correctly. Looe is England’s shark fishing capital and visitors can take trips off the coast to try and catch the underwater monsters.

It is important to note that, according to Visit Cornwall, “all sharks are tagged and recorded when caught and returned to the sea straight away”.

Another very popular activity with visitors is the Looe to Polperro walk. The 5.4 miles jaunt runs along the South West Coast Path and provides breathtaking views of the sea.

One visitor took to Tripadvisor to laud the walk: “The best way to experience Cornwall. Beautiful coastal walk on well-groomed and well-marked trail connecting two villages each with their own charms. A few challenging hills but easily done.”

Another added: “Really lovely walk with good mix of terrain. Did it with my 7 year old who loved it. 2 hour, with stop at lovely cafe in talland bay. Polperro is well worth a visit too.”

While a third chimed in: “A wonderful walk. Rather up and downish, rough underfoot in areas, but great views. Suggest sensible footage such as walking boots. We generally take the bus or a boat one way and walk the other way.”
