Cleaning out your oven can be a bit of an arduous task that often gets left until last or put off at all.
But one TikToker has discovered a 30p kitchen item that, when combined with water, creates the perfect oven cleaning hack. It will leave your kitchen looking more spotless than ever before.
Blogger Yagmur revealed she slices up a lemon – costing just 30p from some major supermarkets – and puts it in a bowl of hot water. Heating the oven then produces steam to loosen the grease and grime.
The blogger then wipes away the grease and dirt with a microfibre cloth, so it doesn’t completely avoid the use of a bit of elbow grease.
The Toronto-based blogger shared her quick tip, captioning a video: “This just saved my life. Natural oven cleaning hack. I will clean my airfryer and microwave this way.”
The content creator fills a bowl with hot water and slices a lemon in her video. She then pre-heats the oven to 200c.
The bowl is then left in the oven for 20 minutes. Not only does the steam soften the grime, the lemon acts as a natural “deodoriser”, leaving your oven smelling naturally scented.
Yagmur then waits for 10 minutes before wetting a microfibre cloth and wiping away the dirt.
The handy tip has racked up more than 2 million views on TikTok. Many users praise the blogger for coming up with a completely natural cleaning technique.
‘Oh, awesome idea . I have done something like this in my microwave. I need to try this,’ one woman said, while a second exclaimed: ‘Doing THIS’.
‘It works, when you turn off the oven let the lemon water stay there for 20 minutes. This way the steam will soften the dirt,’ a third suggested.
