Texas earthquake latest: El Paso houses shake as USGS records 5.2 magnitude tremors


A strong earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale rocked western Texas early this morning. 

Data from the United States Geological Survey said the epicenter of the earthquake was 22 miles southwest of Mentone, Texas. 

The National Weather Service El Paso said that residents in the area were likely “rudely awakened” by the tremor. 

One resident said: “Well that was wild and how I found out El Paso can experience earthquakes. El Paso really is the California of Texas.”
