Tesla 'on autopilot' mows down pedestrian before crashing outside migrant centre


A Tesla taxi mowed down a pedestrian while “on autopilot” in a busy New York City street, the driver has claimed.

The car hit multiple other vehicles before crashing through a barricade and onto the sidewalk where it struck a pedestrian, according to reports.

The taxi then hit the side of a building before crashing on the next corner.

The driver, passenger, and pedestrian are receiving medical attention.

The incident took place on East 46th Street and Vanderbilt Avenue in Manhattan.

Footage shared online appeared to show the pedestrian lying on the floor. He could be heard saying he was “hit.”

Police were also seen trying to gain control over the chaos in the aftermath of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, 19, has reportedly claimed that the Tesla was on autopilot at the time of the crash.
