Terrifying moment missile hits Egypt resort town on border with Israel leaving six hurt

A missile attack that was captured on video has left at least six people wounded in the Egyptian resort town of Taba, located near the Israeli border.

Local media reports indicate that the missile struck an ambulance facility and a residential building associated with the Taba hospital.

Egypt’s Al Qahera News, citing local sources, provided the initial details of the incident.

The video footage, which has emerged following the missile attack, offers a chilling firsthand account of the terrifying incident.

An eyewitness in Taba confirmed hearing a massive explosion and observed a plume of smoke rising, but the source of the blast could not be immediately identified.

The incident is believed to be linked to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict that has been raging in Gaza since October 7, when Hamas fighters launched an attack on Israel, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 1,405 lives. In response, Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have led to the deaths of more than 7,028 Palestinians.

On the same day, another rocket struck the Red Sea resort town of Nuweiba on the Sinai Peninsula. Al Qahera mentioned that an “unidentified body” reportedly fell near an electricity plant in Nuweiba, based on information from informed sources. Investigations into this incident are currently underway.

Nuweiba is located approximately 72 kilometres (44 miles) from Taba, which itself is about 220 kilometres (135 miles) from the Gaza Strip, and it straddles the border between Egypt and Israel’s Red Sea port of Eilat.

Following the missile strike in Taba, the Israeli military promptly confirmed its awareness of a security incident outside its borders.

Earlier in the week, Hamas, the governing authority in Gaza, claimed responsibility for targeting Eilat with a missile. The Israeli military stated that the missile hit an outlying area. This particular incident appeared to be the longest-range Palestinian attack during the ongoing Gaza conflict.

As of now, there is no immediate claim of responsibility for the missile strike on Friday morning. Al Qahera has reported that an investigation has been initiated to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this incident.
