A teenager was less than impressed when her half-sister announced she was expecting her seventh child – resulting in a heated parenting debate between her and the expectant mother.
The 16-year-old girl said she never had a close relationship with her sibling because she was the result of an affair and she “resented me for ‘ruining’ her family”.
She explained her sister had four planned babies and two unplanned children from seven-year-old twins to a nine-month-old. What’s more, she recently confirmed she is expecting another child.
The announcement sparked an immediate reaction from the teenager, who accused the 26-year-old of being unable to look after all her brood and of exploiting their mother for free childcare.
Writing on Reddit, the teen said: “Despite the fact that [she] is incapable of taking care of these kids, four of them were actually planned. Because she KNOWS my pushover mum will give her money and watch the kids.
“My mum even quit her job to do so, even turning her workroom into a nursery. We’re pretty well off, but we can’t do this forever. I try not to judge, and just ignore…like she does me.
“Even though when my mum is busy doing something like changing a diaper I have to step in and help. Especially with the twins since they’re very rough with each other.”
When the older sibling revealed during family dinner that baby number seven was on the way, the teen admitted she failed to hold back on hitting out at her for planning to have another child.
She continued: “Everyone went dead silent until I said ‘bruh’ I didn’t mean to say it out loud, but COME ON.
“[She] gave me a Death Stare and said if I wanted to say something I should just say it. So I did.”
She then proceeded to outline her one-sided conversation with her half-sibling: “‘This is your… (I take a moment to COUNT) sixth child. You know we can’t keep supporting you.
“Without mUm you’d be on the streets, and you know that. Look at mUm, she’s so tired! She’s always taking care of your kids and so am I. I’d bet I’ve changed more diapers than you have you selfish b****.
“She began to cry. And ran out into her boyfriend’s car…he followed her and drove.”
The 16-year-old said their mother also started to cry but quickly left the room to take care of nine-month-old baby, leaving her to face the fury of his dad.
She added: “He began to yell and told me I was a brat and [she] was a great mother, then he stormed off.
“As I’m sitting here in the morning watching the boys, I’m thinking, was I too obnoxious? [sic]”
But despite the feelings of self-doubt, Reddit users were quick to side with the teenager and noted her half-sister needed to take responsibility for all of her children.
User Ok-Context1168 said: “If it were me, I completely stop helping watch kids, but I CAN’T STAND when people pawn their kids off on family members.
“It really pisses me off since it happened to me as a kid. My parents decided to have more kids when I was 10, 14 and then again when I was 17. Guess when I moved out? At 17.”
Another user noted she had been “blunt” but her sister needed to be called out: “She can’t take care of her already present children, bringing more of them in the world is completely insane, both for her, for your mUm, for you (who end up helping way too much for a 16-year-old), and most importantly, for those kids.”
And ImaginationNo2539 wrote: “If she can’t take care of the kids she has then she doesn’t need to be having more. I’d be aggravated if I was expected to take care of her kids as well.”
