Teachers share 'worst' names they ever heard from years of working in schools

When choosing a name for their bouncing bundle of joy some parents go for a traditional one that has been passed down from generation to generation. Others go for something unique that they like but their friends and family might not understand.

And some set themselves up for a lifetime of resentment from their child by selecting a name that is truly awful. They don’t realise they have done it because obviously they love what they have called their child.

But one teacher has called out parents who named their child “Thank God” and says it’s the worst name she ever heard throughout her career.

Speaking on her behalf, her daughter said on Reddit: “My mum once worked at a school and there was a kid called Thank God.

“The kit was a s*** stirrer and misbehaved in class just to hear his atheist teachers scream ‘Thank God!’ at the top of their lungs.”

In response to her post, other users shared the “bizarre” names they have given to children, with one commenter saying: “I know a family with four kids: Prince, Princess, Precious, and Becca. The Becca at the end kills me.”

Another user said: “I was in line at Six Flags once and this woman in front of us kept calling her son Trust Jay.”My mum, being nosy, asked about it, since it was an interesting sounding name.

“Turns out, it was short for TrustInJesus. The kid’s first name was f***ing TrustInJesus or TrustJ for short.”

A third user said: “Mystic Pigeon? She was a client at my office.

“Apparently it’s a real surname and her parents were hippies so named her Mystic. Like who’s ever going to take her seriously?”

One more user added: “How about not giving your child a name? There was a kid I went to high school with whose legal first name was Unnamed Baby Boy. I don’t know the story behind that though.”

Another said: “I went to school with a younger-brother named Justin Case. Sorry man.”

To which another user replied: “I also know a Justin Case! He’s been ‘friendly’ with someone I know for 3 years while her husband has been in jail. We talk about him being her just in case man all the time.”

And another teacher said: “I was a high s hill teacher for many many years and have seen som real crazy names throughout the past four decades including each decades ‘trend’.

“The worst name ever? Still can’t believe it and this was about 8-9 years ago – I had a girl with the first name Swastika.

“Fortunately she went by the nickname Tika but who does that to a child.”
