TalkSPORT host furiously walks out live on air after Chelsea Carabao Cup mocking

Jason Cundy wasn’t in the mood to hang around in the talkSPORT studio after being relentlessly trolled over Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final loss. Cundy, who spent four years with the Blues as a player, is a vociferous supporter of his former club and makes no secret of his allegiance on the airwaves.

But Sunday proved a harrowing one for Chelsea, who were beaten 1-0 at Wembley courtesy of Virgil van Dijk’s extra time header. That’s despite Jurgen Klopp’s side missing several key players, with the London side wasting a host of chances during the initial 90 minutes.

Cundy still reported for duty on talkSPORT’s Sports Bar programme with Jamie O’Hara on Monday night, and was immediately mocked by his co-host. And it wasn’t just the Tottenham fan taking aim, with Liverpool supporters also gleefully calling in.

The 54-year-old seemed to accept the stick, before one Reds fanatic sent in a voice note that tipped him over the edge. The audio consisted of a violin being played, with Cundy losing his composure as he shouted: “What is going on? What is happening here? What is happening here? Seriously? Is this a wind-up?”

As O’Hara chuckled away, Cundy then took off his headphones and made his way to the exit door, with the incident later compared to Piers Morgan’s infamous walk-out while live on Good Morning Britain. “He’s walking out! Cundy’s left, he’s walked out. It’s amazing,” said O’Hara, who himself played in the Premier League. “Keep your calls coming in, we’ll try and get him back.”

He did return to his seat minutes later, and admitted he had spent the day in bed in a bid to shield himself from coverage and reaction of the final. “I’ve been waiting for this all day. Can I just say, I’ve had a terrible day,” he admitted. “So I woke up this morning and I didn’t want to get out of bed. I didn’t want to, I just didn’t want to.

“Sometimes when you have a late night and you’ve had a few dreams, you wake up the next morning, you just want to stay in bed. Close the curtains. Close the blinds. Just hide away from the rest of the world.

“I went back to bed. I didn’t want to get out of bed. I couldn’t listen to talkSPORT all day. All day I’ve not had it on. I don’t want to be here. I love my job and I’m very lucky, right. Jay, I can think of a thousand places I’d rather be right now than sat here. I don’t want to be here.”

Liverpool fans has little sympathy though, with @ThatAnfieldBuzz responding to the walkout by writing “Haha see ya” on X. @sharront1979 added: “He can give it but can’t take it! Absolutely priceless,” while @DCfromN17 said: “Joyous, how can one defeat bring so many gifts.”
