Taco Bell bringing huge favourite back to its menus a decade after it vanished

Taco Bell branches in the US are reintroducing a fan-favourite item to their menu for a limited time – with fans already tremendously excited about the comeback.

The Enchirito, a mix between a burrito and an enchilada, first dropped onto the US menus in the 1970s and became a hit before it was withdrawn from the offering in 2013.

The meal was known on the internet as one of the most-coveted former items and many have claimed that the item is part of a so-called “secret menu” which will be made at Taco Bell if asked for.

The Mexican fast-food chain has confirmed that The Enchirito will return for a limited time – sending fans online into a frenzy when they realised they could get their hands on the meal for the first time in years.

Speaking on Reddit, Taylor Montgomery, the Marketing Officer for Taco Bell, said: “I can confirm publicly for the first time that it will be back very soon for a limited time.”

American fast food enthusiasts were delighted to hear that the Mexican staple was returning.

One user said: “Oh lord my mom used to order that with extra cheese and extra sauce. It was heavenly” while another commentator said they were “hooked” on the meal after ordering it with their stepfather in the 1970s.

Another user wrote: “I bought an Enchirito nearly every day I could, it is my all-time favorite menu item. I would eat a lot more often at Taco Bell if it were back on the menu, I can’t be alone.”

Users spoke of the item bringing back “good childhood memories” and another Taco Bell lover said: “I love the Enchirito, and I would order it with beans and cheese inside the burrito, not ground beef, no onions and extra sauce with black olives! It tastes amazing.”

The nostalgic turn that the Mexican outlet has taken will also see the vaunted ‘Volcano Menu’ return for fans of heat on their meal.

The Volcano Burrtio, Volcano Sauce and Volcano Taco will be reintroduced as part of the move – after it was originally debuted as a tie-in to the 1995 film Congo.

A Reddit user said of the move: “I love [Taco Bell] with all my heart. The ONLY thing that ever made me mad was taking Volcano off the grid.”

In response, Montgomery said: “It’s coming back! Rewards members can get it through early access on June 27 — go buy a lot of it so we can make it permanent.”

Another user begged that Mr Montgomery to being the fan-favorite Nacho Fries back permanently to Taco Bell’s menu,

Mr Montgomery wrote: “This is something we’re working on and hope to do as soon as we can.”
