Sweet reason King Charles has broken royal health protocol by detailing prostate diagnosis

The sweet reason King Charles III has broken royal health protocol by detailing his prostate diagnosis has been revealed.

The monarch shocked the world after it was revealed he was set for treatment after suffering with an enlarged prostrate.

It is highly surprising that such a high level of detail was offered to the public, but according to ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship, there is a sweet reason why he decided to be so open.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, the editor wrote: “This is an unusual level of detail on the health of a member of the Royal Family, but we are told the king wishes to share his diagnosis to encourage other men to get themselves checked.”

King Charles, who became monarch in 2022, is set to attend hospital next week to be treated for an enlarged prostate.

It means Charles will miss his planned trip to Scotland and have the condition resolved later this month.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

“His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation.”

According to aides, the king’s condition is benigh and it was a corrective procedure.

The level of detail offered by Charles is unprecedented but is reportedly due to the king wishing to shine a light on the condition, in the hope it encourages other men to get checked.

The statement comes just 90 minutes after a report about his daughter-in-law, Princess Kate, was released, confirming her own hospital stay.

Kensington Palace said the Princess of Wales was being treated in hospital after undergoing successful abdominal surgery.

In a statement, it said: “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery.

“The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.

“Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.

“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
