Stranger stabs man in the back in shocking attack as police launch urgent witness appeal

Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the back by a stranger in Berkshire. The victim, who is in his fifties, is currently stable in hospital with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries, Thames Valley police said.

He had been walking along Yew Tree Road in Slough close to its junction with Montrose Gardens, when he was approached from behind by another unknown man, who stabbed him.

The offender is described as an Asian man, in his 30s, medium build, with dark short hair, with a black beard, wearing a black jacket, black jeans and black trainers. He was also carrying a blue plastic bag.

It is believed that the offender was initially in Albert Road, and subsequently followed the victim.

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries and members of the public may see an increased police presence in the area while we do so.

“We are asking anyone who may have witness information or may recognise the offender from the description to please come forward.

“Equally if you were driving in the area and have a dash-cam or have a CCTV camera, please check the footage and contact us if it shows anything that you think may assist our enquiries.”
