Storm Ciaran puts three in hospital as 110mph 'monster' sparks major incident

The remote islands of Guernsey and Jersey are among the worst hit areas by Storm Ciaran, as the nation wakes up to brutal 110mph gusts.

Three people are reportedly in hospital due to the storm’s wrath, with dozens more moved into emergency hotel rooms on the Channel Islands as winds rip through the entirety of Britain.

Among the damage so far, roof tiles have been blown off houses, scattered like playing cards into the roads, and the east of Jersey was said to have been hit with a tornado in the early hours.

Warnings have been issued across the nation, but Jersey and Guernsey have both been put on red alert, with lots of low-level coastline making for an easy flooding target.

In the south west of England, counties such as Cornwall and Devon have closed schools, and some schools in Kent are also starting to close-up for the day.

This is a breaking news story. More to follow.
