Storm Ciarán LIVE: Met Office issues 96-hour warning across UK – full list of areas

The Met Office has issued a string of weather warnings spanning 96 hours as the UK braces for Storm Ciarán to hit.

Yellow weather warnings have been in place across the UK since 12am this morning (Monday, October 30), until 11.59pm on Thursday, November 1.

Brits have been placed on high alert as winds of up to 100mph and heavy downpours are due to wreak havoc over the next few days, with home and roads expected to be flooded.

Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Chris Almond said: “Winds associated with Storm Ciaran are likely to gust to 80mph along the south coast of England, with a small risk of somewhere exposed seeing 90mph, and winds could even gust up to 50mph or 60mph further inland.”

The Environment Agency has issued 72 flood warnings across the UK, but largely focussed on the south coast. It warned of “significant coastal flooding”, with a further 175 alerts in place.

It comes as several towns and villages are still suffering the aftermath of Storm Babet, which saw entire communities cut off and seven people killed amid the severe weather front.
