Starmer declares 'Thatcher was right' during flagship speech where thousands protested her

Sir Keir Starmer has declared that Margaret Thatcher “was right” during a flagship speech in Stoke-on-Trent, where thousands of people protested against her.

He said: “Margaret Thatcher called it the ‘first duty of government’ – she was right. An expression of individual liberty – our rights and responsibilities, but also of justice, of fairness, of equality – one rule for all.”
