Socialite Jasmine Hartin pleads GUILTY to manslaughter in shooting of police officer

Jasmine Hartin, the estranged partner of Lord Ashcroft’s son Andrew, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the shooting of a Belizean police chief, claiming she wants the victim’s family “to have peace” after his “accidental” shooting.

Hartin broke down in tears on Tuesday when her plea was delivered to Belize City’s Supreme Court, in which she admitted the manslaughter of Henry Jemmott, the Daily Mail reported.

The accused had been set to go on trial for Mr Jemmott’s manslaughter before her admission of guilt.

Hartin, who was in a relationship with Andrew Ashcroft, said to outside of court following her admission: “I just want Henry’s family to have peace now and I want this whole thing behind all of us so we can heal.”

According to Channel 5 Belize news, Hartin asked officials to have a sentence indication, with the judge outlining that there was a likelihood she would receive a non-custodial sentence – which may be either a fine or payment of compensation to Mr Jemmott’s family.
