The M62 has been brought to a standstill by the continued snow chaos sweeping across the UK, with motorists abandoning their cars and facing huge queues as temperatures plummet. Hundreds of cars were pictures on social media in massive traffic tailbacks on the busy motorway at 1.22am. Motorists were reportedly even abandoning their cars on the road with up to 15inches of snow being dumped on local areas overnight as the deep freeze continues to cause havoc.
Twitter user “Network Wizkid” (@iwiizkiid) posted two pictures of several cars in front at a standstill on the M62.
They wrote: “Argh good old Britain. We get a little snow and we get stuck on the motorway. This is the scene currently on the M62.”
This morning, @iwiizkiid shared a video on the social networking website, showing the “absolute chaos” during their six-hour ordeal” on the M62, showing heavy snow falling as cars crawl along the motorway.
The Twitter user wrote alongside this: “Well…let’s just say that the M62 was nothing short of absolute chaos this morning.
“The scenes and the video/images we got of our ordeal in the snow are definitely one for the memory books. Here’s a taster of our 6-hour ordeal in the snow storm.
