Sky Sports make glaring Chelsea mistake during Axel Disasi's post-Middlesbrough interview

Sky Sports appeared to mistake Axel Disasi for Chelsea team-mate Noni Madueke during the defender’s post-match interview against Middlesbrough. Disasi and Madueke were both among the goalscorers as the Blues thrashed Boro 6-1 to reach the Carabao Cup final.

Disasi and Cole Palmer, who scored twice, were selected to conduct the post-match interview with Carabao Cup broadcast rights holder Sky. The defender’s goal was decisive, placing Chelsea into a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Palmer was selected as the man of the match, with Disasi’s job being to hand the attacker the trophy. However, Sky made a glaring error when the interviewer began asking Disasi the first question.

As the camera panned to the 25-year-old, it was instead Madueke’s name that appeared on screen. The graphic quickly disappeared before the correct name was shown later in the interview.

“Today was a great game after losing the first game. I’m happy because we showed another face and deserved to win. For me, it will be the first time I go to Wembley so I’m happy about this,” Disasi told Sky of Chelsea’s victory, which sets up a Wembley final against either Fulham or Liverpool.

“After the first game, we were all angry and the coach said we had to push and play hard.

“He put me at right-back and I tried to do my best for the team. We have to keep this mentality in the league also to win more games. I think we are in a good way and need to stay focused.”

There might have been some nerves at Stamford Bridge before kick-off but those were dispelled in a stunning first half in which Chelsea scored four times. An own goal by Jonny Howson levelled the aggregate score, before Enzo Fernandez put Chelsea ahead in the tie.
