Six Nations LIVE: Scottish media fire up England stars ahead of Calcutta Cup epic

Following a weekend break in play the Six Nations is back today with two key fixtures which are set to shape this year’s tournament. The Calcutta Cup is up for grabs this afternoon as England face old foes Scotland on away soil while Wales host Ireland.

The afternoon will be an emotional one for England skipper Jamie George whose mother died last week. George said that his mother’s proudest day was watching him captain his country for the first time during England’s opening Six Nations fixture against Wales.

The England skipper was adamant about carrying on his role despite his mother’s death and was present at an open training session the day after she passed away. Meanwhile, table-topping Ireland will be favourites to send Wales to a third defeat.

“Taking time off is the last thing she would have wanted me to do,” George said. “It’s not what I wanted to do. It’s not an ideal situation to be in, but there was never any doubt in my mind that I wanted to be involved in this game.

“Wherever she is now, she will be looking down telling everyone that is there that her son is the England captain. I know for a fact that meant a huge amount to her.”
