Six Nations LIVE: England a 'mess' as Steve Borthwick gets fresh injury update vs Ireland

Former Leinster coach Bernard Jackson has labelled the current state of English rugby a “mess” before their Six Nations clash with Ireland.

Jackson hit out at the reported idea that the English Rugby Union looked at the idea of selling Twickenham, which would have seen them contact the Football Association about moving into Wembley.

“English rugby is in a mess,” he wrote in the Irish Independent. “On and off the field. The RFU recently hired an external consultancy firm to examine the pros and cons of selling Twickenham for housing and moving to Wembley where they could stadium share with the FA. Thankfully the numbers don’t add up. For now at least.

“Twickenham was always the home of English rugby to me and many other fans and would be the equivalent of the Royal Family selling the crown jewels. You will never get back what you had.”
