Simon Reeve blasts mass-migration as a ‘racket’ and hits out at lefties on BBC show

Simon Reeve has blasted mass-migration as a “racket” as he slammed lefties during a conversation on Laura Kuenssberg’s Sunday Morning politics show.

The author and journalist blasted Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda policy, telling the panel: “I think it’s a gimmick, I think it’s designed to appeal to voters rather than to actually make change.

“But I would step back slightly from it as an issue and say what are we trying to achieve, what is our ultimate aim on this immigration issue?

“My principal desire is to make poor countries a bit wealthier. I do not think that is necessarily achieved by mass migration. I think mass migration is a bit of a racket in many ways.

“I think too often people on the left don’t see it for what it is, which is often, in my view, what I see, is us, as wealthy countries poaching, nicking and nabbing clever, bright and wonderful people from other countries, bringing them over here to work as pizza delivery people and courier drivers, I don’t think it necessarily helps them or the people in their countries.”

Mr Reeve appeared on the popular BBC politics show alongside Labour’s Yvette Cooper, Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf and Defence Secretary Grants Shapps.
