Shocking moment masked thieves pounce on car crash victim in sickening footage

This is the moment a group of car thieves forced a driver to pull over on a busy motorway before robbing him with weapons.

Footage shows four individuals clad in dark clothing and masks speeding out of a black Dodge caravan towards a wrecked black Alfa Romeo on the eastbound side of the I-10 highway near Los Angeles at approximately 1.30pm on Tuesday.

The gang then exits their caravan and swarms the car as the helpless victim, who is on his knees, watches on.

Witnesses were left in a state of shock, with one telling KTLA: “To be honest, at first, I thought it was a hit-and-run gone bad.”

Motorists standing by were powerless to intervene as the assailants rifled through the victim’s car.

The shocking heist has prompted heightened vigilance among law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles.

LAPD Chief Michel Moore shared the video of the robbery on social media, indicating that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is actively investigating.

Chief Moore wrote on X: “The CHP is aggressively investigating this violent attack, and our investigators are assisting to help identify and bring to justice those responsible.”

The thieves continued their frantic search of the vehicle while onlookers slowed down to witness the alarming scene.

One concerned driver even jumped out of their own vehicle for a closer view and record the robbery.

According to reports, it appears the victim was deliberately targeted, with the man who recorded the video telling local media: “[It was] definitely targeted. They knew exactly what he had in the car.

“They were coming for that.”

During the crash, a Ford Mustang was also struck, further complicating the already chaotic scene.

Contrary to initial fears, police clarified that the suspects appeared to be armed with a hammer and crowbar, rather than firearms, as shown in the video.

The suspects, who fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Malibu, are still at large.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the California Highway Patrol or the LAPD.

They are also advising drivers to remain vigilant and stay aware of their surroundings while on the road.
