Sex attacker rapes man in his 20s after assaulting victim sparking police CCTV appeal

A man in his 20s has been raped in Newcastle and detectives have released a CCTV image of a man with whom they wish to speak. Northumbria Police issued a CCTV image on Twitter of a man they believe can help with their enquiries after the attack which happened between 3am and 4am at a bar in the city centre. The man in the picture can be seen wearing a baseball cap, large headphones around his neck, a dark hoodie and trousers, and large tan-coloured boots.

In the early hours of December 30 police said a man sexually assaulted the victim inside Rusty’s Bar before raping him. Officers are now pleading for the public’s help to find the man.

Northumbria Police said: “We received a report a man in his 20s had been raped by another man following a night out at the bar on Times Square.

“It was reported the offender sexually assaulted the victim touching him without consent before proceeding to rape him while inside the premises.

“It’s believed the offender exposed himself to the victim outside of the venue before sexually assaulting him and leaving the area.

“The incident was later reported to police and an investigation was launched by detectives from our Safeguarding Department.

“The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers. A wide range of enquiries have been carried out, including a review of CCTV.

“As part of their extensive enquiries, we have today issued the image of a man they would like to speak to.

“It’s believed he was in the area at the time of the incident and could have info.
