Scottish zoo latest as monkey on the loose after escaping Highlands Wildlife Park

A monkey has broken out of a zoo and is currently on the loose, with experts scrambling to bring it back to safety. The news has been confirmed by Highland Wildlife Park in Kingussie, who said the animal had been missing since around 7am today.

Head of living collections at RZSS, Darren McGarry, said: “Our charity has set up a team who are working to secure the monkey safely and as quickly as possible.

“If members of the public encounter the macaque they should contact comms@rzss.org.uk with more information and do not approach it.”

The Daily Record claims the monkey has been seen clinging onto garden fences and taking nuts from bird feeders from a nearby village.

The breed is a Japanese macaques, also known as the snow monkey.
