Sarah Ferguson makes candid confession about her 'second mum' the late Queen Elizabeth II

Sarah told the Daily Mail: “One of the reasons I’m a good mother is because my mother wasn’t present at all.

“She left me when I was 12 [to move to South Africa], so I know what it’s like to be bought up without a mother.

“That’s why the Queen [Elizabeth II] was so amazing, because she was more of a mother to me than my own.”

Sarah described be a mother to her own two daughters as “one of the best jobs”, adding that she is a “present” parent.

Both Beatrice and Eugenie became mothers in 2021.

The younger of the two, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed a son called August – who is now two – in February 2021.

The couple are now expecting a second child this summer. It remains unknown whether the pair are expecting a daughter or another son.

Princess Beatrice welcomed a daughter, named Sienna, in September 2021. The 34-year-old welcomed Sienna with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi – who also has a son from a previous relationship.

Sarah claimed that having August and Sienna in her life is like “having my babies back again”, due to their likeness to their royal mothers.

Princess Eugenie recently shared a snap, on her Instagram account, of the two cousins enjoying a day at the zoo.

She wrote in the caption that “August and his cousin Sienna love going to the zoo”. The post was shared for World Earth Day.
