Sara Sharif's dad, stepmother and uncle charged with murder after youngster's death

Three people have been charged with murder after 10-year-old Sara Sharif was found dead at her home address over a month ago.

Police say the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised murder charges against Sara’s father, Urfan Sharif, 41, of Hammond Road in Woking, Surrey, as well as his partner Beinash Batool, 29, also of Hammond Road and Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, 28, also of Hammond Road. They have also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

It comes after Sara’s body was found at a property on Hammond Road on August 10. Police say the youngster’s mother is being supported by specially trained officers.

The trio travelled to Pakistan a day before police discovered Sara’s body in Woking on August 10. A post-mortem examination found the youngster had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries” over a “sustained and extended” period of time.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “They were arrested on Wednesday evening (13 September), at Gatwick Airport as they disembarked a flight from Dubai. All three have been remanded in custody to appear at Guildford Magistrate’s Court later today (15 September).”
