Rwanda bill vote: How your MP voted as Tory rebels back down and bill clears Commons

Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda Bill cleared the Commons tonight after the majority of Tory rebels backed down.

MPs voted 320 to 276, majority 44, to approve the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill at third reading.

Some 11 Conservative MPs including former home secretary Suella Braverman and ex-immigration minister Robert Jenrick voted against the legislation, while another 18 did not vote.

More than 60 right-wing Tories had previously backed amendments aimed at toughening up the draft law.

The Bill – which Labour, the SNP and the Lib Dems opposed – will now head to the House of Lords where it is expected to come up against stiff opposition.
