Russian bosses of Arctic prison where Alexei Navalny was 'killed' banned from UK

The heads of the Arctic penal colony where Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny was “detained and killed” will be banned from the UK and see their assets frozen under new sanctions announced by Lord Cameron, the Foreign Office said.

The new sanctions are set to hold “those responsible for Navalny’s brutal treatment” to account.

During his stay, the Russian critic was held in solitary confinement for two weeks at a time, and was denied medical treatment.

He was also forced to walk in -32C weather while held at the prison camp.

Among the sanctions individuals include Colonel Vadim Konstantinovich Kalin, head of IK-3 Arctic penal colony “Polar Wolf”.
