Russia 'shoots down drone targeting helicopter plant' as attacks near Moscow surge

The Bryansk and Kursk regions both border Ukraine.

Drone attacks on Russian soil have become a common fixture in recent weeks, with several vehicles reaching as far as the Russian capital.

Kyiv rarely claims responsibility for the strikes, but Ukrainian intelligence sources last week admitted to using drones to take out Russian planes.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said earlier this month that Moscow “is rapidly getting used to a full-fledged war”.

It came after the Russian Defense Ministry said it shot down two Ukrainian drones outside Moscow and had electronically jammed another.

The drone was reportedly sent crashing into the IQ-Quarter skyscraper that houses government offices like the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

According to Ukrainian Army Major Viktor Tregubov, drone strikes on the Russian capital are a “major sign” that Moscow is vulnerable.

He told Daily Express US: “It is a symbol that Moscow is not indestructible, that Moscow is not well protected.

“It is a major sign that…even administrative workers, even ministers themselves, they are not invincible and can experience the same fears all Ukrainians experience because of Russian actions.”
