Royal fans have taken to social media to point out a hidden second balcony as the Royal Family graced the main Buckingham Palace on Saturday [June 17]. The King was joined by the likes of Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales as he marked his official birthday during this year’s Trooping the Colour. The Royal Family, including the Waleses’ three children, appeared on the balcony to witness the annual RAF Flypast.

Taking to Twitter, one account @Gertsroyals shared a picture of, what appeared to be, a second balcony in the background.
The account wrote: “Extended member of the Royal Family on balcony in the inner the quadrangle of Buckingham Palace?”
In a separate tweet, the account took a guess at who appeared on the second balcony.
They wrote: “It’s definitely members of the Royal Family on the interior balcony. You can see the Earl of St. Andrew in the yellow waistcoat. He is the The Duke of Kent’s eldest son. And drove with him to Horseguards parade.”

Many other accounts were surprised at the account for spotting the hidden balcony.
One account replied: “Good spot! I think its far too late to convince Charles of the PR benefits of having extended royal family on the balcony, but maybe William will realize its good for the health of the monarchy to get those balcony shots.”
A second account commended @Gertsroyals for spotting it, writing: “I commend you for spotting that! [seriously]. I never noticed.”
At last year’s Trooping the Colour, the Palace confirmed that the late Queen – who was also celebrating the start of her Platinum Jubilee at the time, wanted only working royals and their children on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

It seemed that, for the most part, King Charles has followed this tradition – seemingly hinting at his plan for a slimmed-down monarchy.
The King was also joined by Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
The King had also chosen to include the Duke of Kent and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
The event marked the first official birthday of a King in 70 years.
