Royal fans fume as Balmoral Castle charges £100 for tour inside: 'Who is paying that?'

Royal fans have been left fuming over the price that is being charged to view the interior rooms of Balmoral Castle.

The royal estate have announced that fans will be able to book private tours of King Charles III’s private retreat this summer.

The tour, which has been called ‘The Balmoral Experience’, will allow the public into previously off-limits areas of the Aberdeenshire estate.

Balmoral will open its doors between July 1 and August 4. Tickets will cost £100 or £150 including afternoon tea.

The reveal of the tours will undoubtedly excite many royal watchers, but many have been left furious after seeing the price of the tickets.

One fan, taking to the comment section on one of our recent articles about the forthcoming tour, furiously wrote: “£100 or £150 to walk around that place. Why would you wish to pay that?”

Another wrote: “And who in there right mind would pay that amount of money to wander round a few rooms also if you have to pay £50 for afternoon tea don’t think a cucumber sandwich and a scone and a cup of earl gray will set you back that much doesn’t matter if it’s homemade of not.”

A third fan commented: “£100 to £150 for cake, tea and a walk over priced and afternoon tea at the Ritz cost £75.”

Wrting in the comment section, another fan questioned whether this would have been approved by the late Queen.

The fan wrote: “Should not happen, the late Queen would never have allowed it.”

The late Queen died at Balmoral in September 2022. Elizabeth II was 96 at the time of her death.

Balmoral is known to have been the late Queen’s favourite residence, with the Royal Family having spent many summers there.

As well as being given exclusive access inside the residence, visitors will also have the chance to “learn about Balmoral’s history and heritage”.
