Royal fans catch early glimpse of Charles with Lady Sarah Chatto, Edward, Zara and Mike

King Charles was one of the members of the Royal Family spotted by eagle-eyed royal watchers this morning. The monarch walked from Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene Church accompanied by several relatives to attend an early morning service – as his mother Queen Elizabeth II used to do.

Charles walked side by side with Lady Sarah Chatto and Earl Snowdon – the children of the late Princess Margaret.

He was also in the company of Zara and Mike Tindall and Princess Anne’s husband – Sir Timothy Laurence.

Prince Edward was also said to have joined the royal party, albeit camera lenses did not catch him.

The royals who have gathered in Sandringham to celebrate Christmas together with the King and Queen Camilla will step out together later this morning to attend the traditional service at the nearby chapel.

Typical Royal Family Christmases see the Firm members enjoy a lunch of shrimp or lobster salad, followed by a classic roast turkey main.

Like many others on Christmas Day, the family finishes their dinners with a Christmas pudding dripping with brandy butter.

They deviate from average family celebrations, with presents usually exchanged the night before as the royals abide by a German tradition introduced by Prince Albert, which sees gifts being exchanged on Christmas Eve.

This year, the royals will surely feel the Queen’s loss profoundly as they followed traditions she treasured.

DON’T MISS

In a few hours, the Royal Family and the nation will come together to watch King Charles’s first-ever Christmas broadcast.

Televised at 3pm, the speech has been tipped to pay tribute to the late Queen, as it was filmed just metres away from her resting place.

Charles recorded the speech on December 13 in the quire at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, where the Queen’s committal service was held in September.
