Royal Family LIVE: Sussexes pass grim 1,000-day milestone with Netflix empire 'crumbling'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have surpassed their 1058-day milestone since moving to the US and announcing their surprise deal with Netflix, with some experts claiming their empire is now “crumbling”.

In 2020, the couple announced they would be stepping down as working members of the Firm and work to become financially independent, with one of their first announcements being their deal with Netflix.

Following their move to their Montecito mansion in California, US, the couple have worked on a number of projects – including their Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan and Harry’s memoir Spare.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also forced to fund their own security after it was stopped following their departure from the UK – something which Harry fiercely fought at the time.

But, with recent news that the couple’s million-pound deal with Spotify was terminated, some experts have suggested their milestone marks a bleak series of events.

Writing for news.com.au, Daniela Elser said: “Having passed the 1000-day mark of Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s American commercial empire-in-the-making, the question is more and more, is it already crumbling?

“The Sussex brand was fast becoming one associated with a certain drumbeat of negativity and a proclivity to gripe.

“And yet here we are, only 1,058 days on from the announcement of their Netflix deal, and already we are discussing the very survival of the Sussex dream factory. (Bet this was how the Romans felt when they heard the Vandals were on their way to do some sacking.)

“Their successes are not something they likely can replicate or repeat.”
