Prince Louis already has a sweet hobby which will undoubtedly be met with approval by his grandfather King Charles III, the five-year-old’s mum Kate, Princess of Wales, has said. Kate, who stole the show yesterday during a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, joined youngsters for the first ever Children’s Picnic at the world famous event in west London.
Speaking to youngsters about the sunflowers they were growing at school, she told them: “They get so big, don’t they?”
“Louis is growing broad beans at school. You put them in a cup and you can see the roots growing. They get big quickly, like sunflowers.”
The King is likewise a keen horticulturalist who brought in organic farming at Highgrove, his Gloucestershire home, in 1989.
Speaking on Radio 4 in 2021, he told Poet Laureate Simon Armitage: “My sister and I had a little vegetable patch in the back of some border somewhere. We had great fun trying to grow tomatoes rather unsuccessfully, and things like that.”
