Royal Family LIVE: Prince Harry warned Meghan Markle to avoid 'trap' in crucial meeting

Prince Harry reportedly warned Meghan Markle to avoid “trap” in crucial first meeting with the late Queen.

Meghan met Elizabeth II for the first time in October 2016, not long after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s romance had been made public.

According to Harry’s memoir Spare, Meghan was excited at the prospect of meeting his grandmother, stating that her response was, “Fun! I love grandmas.”

Harry knew it wasn’t all that it seemed, with the Duke warning his future wife of one trap that she should avoid.

Before the meeting, the couple paid a visit to Prince Andrew’s former wife Sarah Ferguson, who offered Meghan advice on how to curtsy to the late Queen.

Despite advice on how she should first be addressed as ‘Your Majesty’ before being referred to as ‘Ma’am’, Sarah also told her that she should be mindful to not speak over the late monarch. Harry confirmed in his memoir that Meghan did not speak over his grandmother and, according to him, his future wife curtsied beautifully.

Harry wrote in Spare: “Everyone complimented Meg on her curtsy. So good! So deep!”
