King Charles is due to launch a project targeting food poverty on his birthday.
Known as the Coronation Food Project, it will aim to tackle the problem of using surplus food whilst helping people who can’t afford it.
Speaking to the Big Issue, the King said: “Food need is as real and urgent a problem as food waste.
He added that “too many families and individuals” were “missing out on nutritious meals”.
The aim of the Coronation Food Project is to create a series of distribution hubs which will connect surplus food to 14 million people facing food insecurity.
