Royal Family LIVE: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle urged to break silence over Endgame

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been urged to break their silence over Omid Scobie’s book and denounce its “poison”, a columnist has claimed.

Sarah Vine claimed the more “coy” the Sussexes are about the truth of their relationship with Scobie, the more they “lend credence to the notion the poison in his book” leads back to them.

Ms Vine writes in the Daily Mail: “Harry and Meghan’s silence is effectively an endorsement of his status as their ‘unofficial mouthpiece’ — and, by extension, an endorsement of all the petty, vicious and malicious accusations he makes.”

The version sold in English-speaking countries doesn’t name the two people, with Scobie stating: “Laws in the United Kingdom prevent me from reporting who they were.”

But the names have been included in the Dutch version and have been widely featured and discussed on social media, with Piers Morgan naming them on TV in the UK.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, the Sussexes alleged an unidentified member of the monarchy – but not Queen Elizabeth II or her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh – had raised “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born”.

Scobie states in his book, Endgame, that two people, not one as Meghan had claimed, made the comment about Prince Archie, which has been widely interpreted as a racist remark.
