Writing on Twitter, Nile Gardiner, a former aide to Margaret Thatcher who often writes about the Royal Family said: “It is sad to see Team Meghan and Harry do all they can to undermine the King and the Royal Family ahead of the Coronation, with sheer lies and vindictiveness. Disgraceful.”
A source close to Meghan has claimed the reason she is not attending the Coronation is because she did not receive a “satisfactory response” to her concerns, according to The Telegraph.
Both Meghan and Charles understood the comments were not made with the intention of being offensive or malicious.
In a response to the story published in the Telegraph, a spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex said in a statement:
“The Duchess of Sussex is going about her life in the present, not thinking about correspondence from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago. Any suggestion otherwise is false and frankly ridiculous.”
