Royal Family LIVE: Charles's Coronation planning 'delayed because of Harry and Meghan'

Planning for the King’s forthcoming Coronation have reportedly been “delayed because of [Prince] Harry and Meghan”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussexes have yet to confirm whether they will be in attendance at Westminster Abbey on May 6, despite the “April 3 cut off point”. According to the Mirror, their delayed response has reportedly meant that the “seating plans are still not arranged”.

Last month, the Sussexes confirmed that they had received an invite – however, failed to state whether they would be joining the royals this spring.

An insider told the Mirror that “it’s all very frantic” and “complete chaos to be frank”. The source added: “There is a plan, which is supposed to be the blueprint of how the day should operate, but things are changing daily which is causing massive headaches”.

A whole host of other issues have also sprung up over the past few weeks, with a source stating that royal aides are “working around the clock in their determination to ensure everything is perfect for the big day”.

Some other issues include “fears the King could stumble over his elaborate robes in front of a TV audience of 100 million”, “rows over the Coronation route”, “confusion over whether women will wear tiaras” and “Prince Andrew’s fury over potential ban on wearing Garter Knight robes”.

Another royal source has stated that, despite the chaos, “there is huge confidence everything will go to plan on the day”.

The source added: “The King and Queen Consort want it to be perfect as does everyone involved which is why everything is being done to make it so”.
