United were held to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford by Spurs, despite taking the lead twice. Ten Hag’s side opened the scoring after just three minutes, with Hojlund ending his goal drought in fine style with a fierce strike into the roof of the net from close range. But Tottenham hit back in the 19th minute through Richarlison, with the Brazilian flicking his header into the far corner following a corner.
The Red Devils were then forced to weather the storm for the remainder of the first half, but they did head into the interval with the lead thanks to Marcus Rashford. The England international tucked a neat strike through the legs of Micky van de Ven and into the back of the net following a swift United counter-attack.
Spurs then levelled the match just one minute after the restart, with Rodrigo Bentancur capping off a superb passing move with a smart strike into the top corner from an angle. United will have taken plenty of positives from the performance, though Keane is still not convinced that Hojlund should be leading the line for his former side, having criticised the Denmark international ahead of kick off.
He told Sky Sports: “He shouldn’t be starting, he should be in the back coming on for the odd cup game or something. What he needs is a world-class striker in front of him, learn from them, he’s come to the club coming off the back of an injury and they’ve thrown him straight into a side that’s low on confidence and belief.
“Do they have a choice? No, but he’s come into a team that’s not on the up and they’ve not really created much for him. He’s a young kid learning his trade, but you can’t keep waiting on him – he needs to take the one or two opportunities he’s getting in each match which he managed to do today.”
